Categories include:
* Dance Choreography
* Film Production
* Literature
* Music Composition
* Photography
* Visual Arts 2D
* Visual Arts 3D
**New this year!  Special Artist Category for students with disabilities who receive services under IDEA or Section 504

General Rules

  • Only new pieces of artwork inspired by the theme may be submitted.
  • Each entry must be the original work of one student only.
  • Students can enter multiple categories but only ONE entry per category.
  • Only one student may be recognized as the award recipient for each entry. Other individuals may appear in or perform a student’s work, but the work itself must be the creative product of one student.
  • Use of copyrighted material is prohibited, except for background music in dance choreography and film production entries when cited.
  • Entries will be judged on how well the student uses his or her artistic vision to portray the theme, originality and creativity.
  • Each project must have an ENTRY FORM and ARTISTIC STATEMENT

WELCOME TO OUR NEW VICE-PRINCIPAL: Mrs. Melissa Beck

Hello everyone. I am Melissa Beck. I will be the assistant principal at Riverton and Rose Creek Elementary for the 2016-17 school year. I thought I would share a little bit about myself.
I am ready to catch the Raccoon Pride at Riverton Elementary this year! As a Utah native and resident within the Jordan School District boundaries, I feel as though I already have a connection with many of you. My passion has always been education; I loved school growing up and I was inspired by my teachers to give back what they gave to me. West Jordan High School was my home for the last six years. I had the wonderful opportunity to teach Science there, including Biology, Chemistry and AP Biology. I love the students at WJHS; they reminded me every day that even in high school, students really do love to learn! They also taught me that we all have different life experiences and we all view the world through a different lens; unity and success comes when we learn about each other’s unique experiences and use them to better each other.
I fell in love with elementary-aged students during my internship last year. I was reminded of the insatiable desire to learn that elementary-aged children possess. Therefore, I was overjoyed when I was placed at Riverton Elementary. It is my belief that all children can learn at high levels. My goals for this year include building relationships with students, parents and community members, learning about and supporting the culture of Achieving, Leading and Learning at Riverton Elementary and finally, supporting teachers in their efforts to increase student learning. I am excited for the opportunity to work with the great students, teachers, parents and community members at this school.
